What's more, 42-bit input and output ensure that every nuance of colour is faithfully rendered. To top it off, a Dmax of 3.4 provides superb shadow detail on transparency scans.
Big on Versatility
Thanks to its big 310x437mm scanning platen, the EPSON EXPRESSION 1640XL is versatile enough to handle A3+ originals and multi-image batch scans with equal ease. If it's slides or film negatives you're working with, our new optional Transparency Unit offers indirect lighting for smooth, even illumination. But the versatility doesn't stop there - we've also got an all-new, 100-page Automatic Document Feeder for high-efficiency scanning of multi-page originals.
'Can-Do' Driver Software
Our advanced EPSON TWAIN Pro driver software is amazingly easy to use, yet offers pro-orientated features like scan-to-fit auto target size imaging, highlight/shadow adjustment and gamma, moire and tone correction. It also has a multi-marquee function for making multiple selections, and a sophisticated auto exposure system that adjusts exposure values for each selection individually. What's more, 'live' previews of adjusted images show you exactly what your final scan will look like.
Pinpoint Focusing Accuracy
An advanced autofocus system provides pinpoint focusing accuracy up to 6mm above the surface of the platen. So whether your scanning prints placed directly onto the platen glass, or transparencies in a film holder, you get super sharp imaging with every scan. In addition, the EPSON EXPRESSION 1640XL features a high-performance xenon lamp for ultra-stable illumination and instantaneous start-up.
Networking Flexibility
Networking flexibility is another advantage of the EPSON EXPRESSION 1640XL. SCSI and USB interfaces are standard, and an IEEE 1394 FireWire interface can be added as an option. Network scanning is available by adding the optional EPSON Network Image Express scan server.
